CHEMSEX CAN BE FUN
BUT SOMETIMES IT'S NOT

Anchor 1

who is THE PILOT for?

If you're part of the LGBTQ+ community and struggling with your mental health due to trauma or distressing experiences — whether or not chemsex is involved — this pilot is for you.

We know that the LGBTQ+ community still faces discrimination, rejection, harassment, or even violence and abuse  - and these experiences can leave a lasting impact on your mental health.

While chemsex (using drugs such as G, meth, or mephadrone to enhance sexual experiences) might seem to offer pleasure, freedom and a temporary escape, it also carries serious risks. This includes impaired decision making, vulnerability to harm, and other negative consequences such as sexual assault, overdose, blackmail, job loss, or even the death of friends.

These experiences (and others not mentioned here) can be traumatic. If you're struggling with your mental health as a result of distressing experiences, you're not alone - and this pilot is here to support you.

New data from Controlling Chems shows chemsex is on the rise and more people are seeking help for related challenges. With this in mind, Lambeth Links is partnering with re;mind to run a pilot designed to provide mental health support, gain deeper insights into the experiences of the LGBTQ+ community and make recommendations for service improvements.

what is the purpose of the pilot?

Being LGBTQ+ doesn't inherently cause trauma or mental health issues but LGBTQ+ individuals are more likely to face experiences like stigma, discrimination, abuse, violence and sexual assault all of which can lead to trauma and mental health challenges. In fact, over 40% of the LGBTQ+ community lives with PTSD.

Some individuals may turn to chemsex as a way to cope with their trauma, but it carries serious risks and can result in serious consquences, as mentioned above. These traumatic experiences can have a profound and lasting impact on mental health.

Despite mental health being a widespread issue within the LGBTQ+ community, barriers such as discrimination, stigma, and limited access to inclusive healthcare services make it harder to seek support.

Untitled design-13.png

You will have free access to the re;mind app for 3 months, offering mental health support for PTSD and trauma, 24/7. You can use the app however, whenever and as often as you need to.

When you sign up, you’ll be asked to fill out a survey and over the course of the pilot, you will be asked to fill out 2 more. These surveys each take about 10 minutes to complete. They will ask you more about your experiences surrounding and with chemsex, your mental health and how you have been feeling.

At the end of the pilot we will analyse the app and survey data. We will create insights and a report on the mental health and chemsex challenges faced by the LGTBQ+ community, and make recommendations for service improvements.

Naturally, all data and insights will be completely anonymous.

Mental health support for PTSD & trauma, 24/7.

Whether you’ve already been diagnosed with PTSD, C-PTSD, anxiety, or depression or are still trying to make sense of your experience(s) — we’re here to support you, every step of the way.

All members of the LGBTQ+ community in the UK are invited and welcome to take part in our pilot to get support for your mental health. Whilst we want to gain a deeper understanding of experiences involving chemsex, we're here to support you whether or not chemsex is part of your experience.

We're looking for as many people as possible to take part so you'll get a space - feel free to share with others who may be interested in taking part too!

By taking part in the pilot, you will get free mental health support through the re;mind app for 3 months. You will also be helping us to help you and thousands of others as we gain a deeper understanding of the experiences and challenges the community are facing so both the app and mental health services can be improved.

This will enable us to support Lambeth Links, local authorities and other organisations to improve services and support for the LGBTQ+ community as well as improving the re;mind app’s LGBTQ+ support too.
