In the days, weeks, even months after a traumatic experience, it's normal to have reactions and responses (symptoms) that you may not have experienced before. Often these symptoms go away on their own after a few weeks, but that’s not always the case. If symptoms continue, you may be experiencing trauma.

Trauma is a mind and body response to deeply distressing, stressful or frightening experiences that threaten or cause physical or emotional harm to you or somebody else. This may be a one-off or a series of events.

If you’re experiencing trauma, we understand you may be experiencing any combination of these and/or other challenges.

  • Flashbacks or panic attacks

  • Avoiding people, places or situations

  • Feeling continually on edge and jumpy

  • Regular nightmares and disturbed sleep

  • Unwanted intrusive memories and thoughts

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Negative beliefs about yourself, others or the world

  • Low confidence and self-esteem

  • Struggles with relationships at work, home and with friends

If every day feels like one battle after another then you’re not alone. On average, people struggle with 14 different symptoms so it’s not surprising if you feel overwhelmed.

You may feel that you shouldn’t be having certain feelings, reactions or responses, that it could be worse or even that you shouldn’t be struggling because you don’t have it as bad as someone else.

All these thoughts are very common - but it doesn’t make them true.  You deserve support regardless of what happened.

You can start the journey to feeling better, today.

Our self-help app is designed to help you through day and night
