In the days, weeks, even months after a traumatic experience, it's normal to have reactions and responses (symptoms) that you may not have experienced before. Often these symptoms go away on their own after a few weeks, but that’s not always the case. If symptoms continue, you may be experiencing trauma. 

Trauma is a mind and body response to deeply distressing, stressful or frightening experiences that threaten or cause physical or emotional harm to you or somebody else. This may be a one-off or a series of events.
