Experience a grounding tool
Grounding tools are quick and handy, recognised exercises that we can use when triggered. They help us manage traumatic memories and overwhelming or distressing emotions by helping to calm our nervous system and bring our attention safely back to the present moment. They give us confidence that we will be able to manage when we are triggered in the future. Confidence is not something we just have or don’t have - it is a habit that we can build.
Practising these tools when you are calm will start to build up your skill and confidence that you can use grounding tools, and they will help you when you need them most.
